Family Painting Night

Our Family has recently changed up our typical family game night for family paint night. It's a great indoor game for kids because mom and dad enjoy it too. Kids love to mimic mom and dad, so we do it "proper" on an easel with real canvas. You may be surprised to find out how inexpensive it is to get started - less than a night at the movies!

All you need to get started is an easel, a few paint brushes, a canvas for each family member and basic paint colors: white, black, red, blue and yellow.  Also a cup of water to rinse your brush in-between colors and a dry towel to dry the excess water from the brush

There are basically three types of paint options: acrylic, oil and watercolor. We use acrylic because it dries quickly, but you may prefer another if you have experience. If you have no experience, start with acrylic.

Don't waste your money on several colors and shades. Some of the fun comes from mixing colors to see what you come up with. We like to name them - red and a dash of white and blue becomes "Zombie Bruise" and yellow with blue becomes "Green Lantern"

We use this nifty painters pallet, but a paper plate works just fine.

Everyone, and I mean everyone, likes to join in. We throw down a sheet under the easel and have a few dishes towels handy for messes.

Don't forget the jams!

And keep smiling! Family time is so precious.
